Day #5 - Trip Around The Sun!

Day #5 - TGIF!   Have you ever thought about this mindset?  I have!  I say it all the time!  Is it Friday?  Thank GOD!  But why do I say that?  I have more work to do on the weekend than I do on the weekdays?  hmmm  On the weekend, we clean the house, do grocery shopping, yard work, do extra walks with Reggie, do road trips for various reasons, book work, sometimes I have clients on Saturday and then preparation for Monday.  So why TGIF?  Ahhhh.....is it because this is the time we take for ourselves?  YES!  Monday through Friday, I am busy helping clients and Kevin is giving his time to his employer.  The weekend is our work, which does not feel like work, right?  Can you relate?

I have successfully completed the FIVE days of week #1 of the Longevity Paradox Eating plan and I am very proud of myself for the discipline.  Guess what!?  It didn't kill me and only helped me.  Initially, I had thought to myself, what do I have to lose.  Ultimately, I feel better physically and mentally which makes me feel better emotionally!  Win-win!

On Fridays, we do our regular grocery shopping for the upcoming week.  I normally hear people commenting, "It is too expensive to eat healthily.". Well, our grocery bill today was only $56 and normally it would be +$150.  So I question the comment now.  Was it just an excuse to even try?  What I did was prepare a list based on the upcoming week's meal plans.  We stuck to our list!  We are actually saving money by eating healthy.  We didn't buy any junk or anything based on extra Air Miles.  We stuck to our list!  Saving money PLUS eating healthy - BONUS!

Physically, my workout was awesome and challenging.  I don't shy away from doing heavier weight.  Keeping muscles strong as we age is extremely important as the stronger they are, the longer we have our independence.  I will continually work on my strength as long as I am able.
Unfortunately, due to the smoke-filled air today, Reggie and I didn't go for a walk.  Poor dude!  We put on our air conditioning to minimize the smoke from entering the house, which was so helpful.  Today meant we played tug of war more and cuddled more 🥰.

As I laid my head on my pillow tonight, I pray for rain to help out out the fires burning out of control in the north and that all people and their animals are safe.

I am grateful for the peace in my world.

See you on Day #6!
